A Hidden Life
A Hidden Life is an artist’s diary, mixed media in A 4 booklet, 32 pages, which documents my experiences during the first COVID-19 lockdown in Berlin, from March 18 to May 14, 2020, through images and text.
Created in a time of profound disruption, it records my everyday reality as a single mother, artist, and art educator sharing a three-room apartment with her three children—a space that simultaneously became home, studio, classroom, and workplace. While homeschooling and the daily stream of alarming news shaped our lives, I moved my teaching online for the first time, producing videos, audio recordings, and educational materials.
The diary reflects on the peculiarities, discoveries, and transformations of this extraordinary period—its highs and lows, longings, uncertainties, and moments of unexpected fulfillment. It documents a deeply personal state of exception while making visible an experience shared, in different ways, by many.
A reproduction of the entire book as an A5 high quality paper booklet is available for 20 € (plus shipping, free in Germany) via mail.
