The Island or – the attempt not to reach hands

Artist’s book created from a used book (A Summer Place by Sloan Wilson) with overpainted pages, 2024, Mixed Media, 124 pages.

The book’s narrative emerges from fragments of the original text combined with added collage elements and handwritten text, all in relation to the accompanying imagery. The work can be experienced through a performative reading (approx. 20 minutes).

A woman who loses herself in the gaze of another.

A woman who dreams of spaces that exist only beyond the border.

A woman on her way to the place that can hold her.

A woman who discovers that her self is a garden.

A woman who walks to the southern tip of her island.
